Most German and Austrian Americans are from a long line of ancestors - usually we're 3rd or 4th or 5th generation.
But the superb Austrian/American songstress, Linda Eder is actually the 1st generation daughter of an Austrian pastry chef and a beautiful Norwegian mother.
And Eder has built a formidable fan following in the American Midwest, by virtue of her absolutely smashing voice.
A native of Minnesota, her parents encouraged her musical inclinations.
She rode that ability to an award-winning theatrical career on Broadway, 15 solo albums and concerts at such formidable venues as New York's Madison Square Garden.
She's also become a regular presence on a number of American mainstream network TV shows.
So what's Linda Eder's style? She's totally calm, cool, powerfully-voiced, mainstream, show tuney - she runs the gamut from The Sound of Music to Sammy Davis, Jr. to Barbra Streisand (who she claims not to mimic.)
Signed to RCA, Angel and Atlantic Records, Linda Eder has churned out 18 albums from 1989 up to this very year.
Linda Eder maintains a heavy schedule of concert appearances. She'll be performing on the East Coast of the US, with regularity, from now, until the beginning of next year - from up in Massachusetts, through New York and New Jersey and down to Florida.
She's got a formidable fan base in the USA, and exhibits a truly amazing talent - and this - being the daughter of an Austrian pastry chef.
Is this a great country or what?
Here's Linda Eder's paean to her paternal fatherland, Vienna - in it she exudes a decidedly Streisand sound:
And despite her protestations to the contrary, here, Linda Eder does a rousing reprise of Barbra Streisand's hit from Funny Girl, "Don't Rain on My Parade,:"
And here, from the summer before last, is a soulful American performance of Linda Eder's very pretty, Someone Like You:
