Sybille Lindner, who goes by the stage name, Rosa Li is a genuinely complex, intense and remarkable performer in the schlager music realm
Very successfully selling homes and condominiums by day for REMAX (yes, this American company is out there in Germany too) she writes and composes schlager music in her off moments and performs it by nights and on weekends.
And with a wildly melifluous voice, she does it wonderfully.
She was born in Magdeburg, in the Soviet-controlled, East German DDR puppet state.
After liberation, she moved to the very beautiful Baden-Wurttemberg university city of Heidelberg - arguably one of the most romantic cities in all of Germany.
And given the romantic propensities of her poetic song writing and beautiful voice, it would seem to be the perfect locale in which Rosa Li might settle.
As a kid, Rosa Li studied and mastered the guitar and piano and honed her vocal skills in both classical and ecclesiastic choral groups.
(She also embraced a professional pursuit of floral design, which became a personal passion, and led to her love of roses and subsequent adoption of the name "Rosa Li.")
The woman is emotionally intense, and that was a major spur to her decision to begin serious poetic and musical composition. In 2014, she wrote her singles, Der Sind and Zauber dir nacht.
A year later, in collaboration with the Munich-based composer, Willy Kluter, she churned out "Vollweib mit Herz und Emotion","Verschenk Your Smile to the World" and several other songs - all of which were highly personal, emotional and touching.
In some of her very well produced videos, you can hear Rosa Li's powerful voice and get a sense that it is stylistically not all that unlike American pop star Carly Simon's from the 70s.
Ms Lindner is a very dynamic performer - resilient in her powerful emotion with a unique and interesting balance between melancholia and exuberant joie de vivre.
Rosa Li (Sybil Lindner) is truly one of the more complex and interesting schlager performers that we have profiled in many months and certainly someone of whom we would like to see a lot more.
Here is the very beautiful Rosa Li's very nice video from this past year, Ewigkeitseid (Silky Eternity):
Here is Rosa Li's newest - totally schlager-styled, release from less than a month ago - which is now getting some serious airplay in Germany, Dein Sein (I want to be yours):
And if you thought we were kidding about Rosa Li's vocal and stylistic similarities to Carly Simon, just look at and listen to this very nice and soulful video that she released in 2015, Flugel im Herzen (Flight of the Heart):
And here is what we think is Rosa Li's prettiest and most wonderfully romantic songs, published in November of 2016, Liebe laut und leise - (Love sometimes loud and sometimes quiet):
